Daniel Weinand Gründer

A self-taught designer and photographer, Daniel co-founded Shopify, where he now manages the company's culture and design as Chief Design Officer. He loves playing soccer, and walking his three-legged elephant on the Rideau Canal. When he’s not chilling at Shopify’s playful Elgin Street office, Daniel can be found in his kitchen cooking Currywurst and split-pea soup. He is also a lover of all animals and is providing shelter to two. Poofie, one of his cats is convinced that he is a dog. Poofie likes to play fetch and serenading in the middle of the night or whenever Daniel plays the piano. Born in Germany, Daniel studied computer science and music at the University of Dortmund. About a decade ago, he moved to Canada eh.
